An easy way to make a difference in this upcoming election begins tomorrow, on Monday September 22nd.
Our phonebanking effort runs from 5:00 to 8:00 at the MDEA office (Mon-Thurs until the election in November). Stay for the evening, or stay for an hour, as every phone call helps. We promise it to be a fun, low-stress, motivating experience! Contrary to what you may fear, the community loves to hear from teachers and are usually very receptive to what we have to say.
When you come to phonebank with other teachers, you'll be given a script, so you do not need to think of something to say all on your own. And we are providing free pizza to keep those verbal skills going.

Are there flyers or signs to post in our neighborhoods for Gary and Sherry? I have seen signs in Clayton/Concord for Jeff Adams. I want signs for Gary and Sherry! Clayton teachers will step up if we have some things to hand out!
Thank you for asking this question. It's exciting to see how many people want to make a difference in this upcoming election!
1) MDEA has car signs with Gary & Sherry's name on them. If you want one, either e-mail us at the link on the right or contact the MDEA office at 925-676-4664 and one will be ponied to you (or you could go into the MDEA office to get one).
2) Lawn signs are being made and should be available by the end of this week, beginning of next. As soon as I get the go ahead, I'll post info on how to get one.
3) Flyers are also being created in anticipation of precinct walking which beings this weekend. Again, as soon as these are available, I'll post info on how to get some extras.
Besides MDEA, Paul Strange posted several ideas on MDUSD.blogspot. I've excerpted his post below:
Here's what you can do:
1. Send an email to everyone you know stating that you are voting for Sherry Whitmarsh and Gary Eberhart. Tell them that voting for Gary and Sherry is the only way to save the Mt. Diablo School District.
2. Email change@mdusd.net and let us know when you can volunteer. When can you pass out information at businesses? When can you phone bank? How many friends can you bring?
3. Email change@mdusd.net if you would like a yard sign when we get them. ALSO, if you have a fence or a yard that faces a substantial street, let us put a big sign on it.
4. Commit to telling everyone you come into contact with about the importance of this election.
5. Host a "Get to Know" coffee or meeting at your home with Gary and Sherry (or Paul if you just want someone to talk about the issues).
6. Finally, although it is never fun to ask for money, Gary and Sherry need money for their campaigns. There are no campaign contribution limits. Checks should be made out/sent to:

Anyone can post a message like yours without a name. If you have something constructive to say about MDEA, or anything else...stand up and say it. I, for one, would be happy to hear your opinions on what MDEA is doing wrong...I pay my dues and expect them to represent my interests. I feel that they are doing that. If you have another opinion, and can explain why you have it, then people will listen. Otherwise...please go back under your bridge.
